We are run entirely by a group of approximately 70 volunteers covering the roles summarised below.  Our Talking Newspaper is produced each Friday evening at our Ripley studio.  The volunteering commitment is approximately 2–3 hours every 4 weeks on a rota basis.

From the local newspapers the Editor selects and prepares the items for the Reading Team.  This job can be done by one individual or shared and is home based.  As the newspapers are published on Thursday the editing can be done anytime up until 6pm Friday.

In the recording booth the Producer records the articles read by the Reading Team, via a mixer board onto a computer file which is transferred onto a master memory stick ready for duplication.

At the Friday evening recording the Presenter organises the Reading Team and introduces the Readers and each news section.

The Reading Team consists of 3 men and 3 women who read the newspaper articles.

A team of 3 people update the computer records and prepare the returned pouches for the week’s memory sticks.

Each Saturday morning a team of 2 people copy the Friday night production onto memory sticks and post them in the prepared pouches.
